8th Eco Green Flag
At Tipperty School we were awarded our 8th Green Flag in school session 23/24. We are all proud of this achievement! A lot of hard work has gone into achieving this 8th Green Flag. Tipperty School has been recognised as an Eco School since 2007. Pupils have worked on the topics of Climate Action, Gardening and Eco Schools. A litter pick was completed at Newburgh beach in September 2023 with a class from Newburgh Mathers School. The children support recycling within the school and food waste from the school kitchen very is used to feed the worms in the school garden (these worms were previously donated by Newburgh Worms.) The school is grateful for the continued support of our parent garden volunteers who continue to support work in the school garden. The school Gardening group has also achieved a Level 3 Royal Horticultural Society School Gardening award this session in recognition of their work.
Climate Smarter
In May 2024 our P4/5 Climate Smarter team won Regional Runner Up at the North East STEM Celebration at BP Headquarters. The children were tasked with designing and building an eco- school model using their knowledge of sustainable energy sources gained from the Climate Smarter programme they had been studying in school. The children were proud to present their model to the judging team and were also grateful for the opportunity to learn more about a variety of science topics throughout the STEM event. All P5-7 pupils who were involved in the Climate Smarter project were awarded a Level 2 Young STEM Leader Award. The children won £125 of STEM resources for the school.
Bikeability
This session all children in P4/7 have received certificates for their work on Bikeability Level one.
